Greetings! My name is Bhola Narine, and I proudly call the beautiful region of Pomeroon-Supenaam my home, specifically the Coast Public Road in Better. As a fisherman, I have spent countless sunrises casting my nets into the bountiful waters, contributing to a tradition that sustains not just my family, but also the vibrant community that thrives on the catch of the day. Fishing is more than a job for me; it's a way of life that connects me to the rich natural resources of Guyana, reflecting the resilience and spirit of our people.
Growing up in this part of Guyana, I have always been surrounded by the flavors of our culture—from the spicy, aromatic pepperpot simmering for days during festive seasons to the comforting puris filled with ground channa that bring families together. Each dish tells a story, and the love for food runs deep in our heritage. Just as the Lower Pom River weaves through our landscapes, so too does our culture flow through every gathering, whether it's a festive occasion or a simple meal shared among friends.
Though I am rooted in Guyana, I cherish the connections I have with the Guyanese diaspora across the Caribbean and beyond. We share a common bond, celebrating our culture, traditions, and the vibrant spirit of our homeland. Whether it’s gathering with loved ones for a hearty meal or reminiscing about our beautiful rivers like the Pom and Takatu, I remain committed to honoring our heritage and sharing our story with pride.
Pomeroon-Supenaam lies on the Atlantic coast northwest of Georgetown. Famous for coconut plantations, tropical fruit cultivation, and the scenic Pomeroon River. Anna Regina serves as the regional capital.
