Hello! I’m Bibi Sookram, a proud housewife living in the heart of Essequibo, right on 366 Charles Street in Pomeroon-Supenaam. Growing up surrounded by the lush landscapes of our beautiful region, I have an immense love for the vibrant culture of Guyana. From the rich flavors of our local dishes like pepperpot and cook-up rice to the exquisite beauty of the Pom River and its hidden gems, every day is a celebration of my heritage.
As a part of the Guyanese diaspora, I cherish the connections we have with each other, whether near or far. I often reminisce about the spirited discussions we have regarding our home, especially the pride we feel over Essequibo. With each passing day, I see how our community stands strong, despite the challenges that come our way, including the ongoing conversations about our borders and our rightful claim over the Essequibo region. Our culture is rich, and our resolve is even stronger.
In my home, I strive to create a warm and inviting space where family and friends can share stories and enjoy homemade Guyanese delicacies. From our sweet cassava pone to the aroma of freshly brewed black cake, I believe that food brings people together.
