Hello! I’m Bisram Singh, a proud labourer from the beautiful Wakenaam Reserve in Sans Souci, located in the heart of the Pomeroon-Supenaam region of Guyana. My roots run deep in this vibrant community, where the Pomeroon River flows, nurturing the land and our rich agricultural traditions. Growing up here, I have always been surrounded by the warmth of my neighbors and the lush green landscapes that inspire our everyday lives. Whether it’s sharing a plate of pepperpot or enjoying a Sunday cook-up with family, food has always been a central part of our gatherings.
Living in Wakenaam means being connected to a tight-knit community that values our cultural heritage. From the bustling markets filled with fresh produce to the tranquil riverside views, I find great joy in the simple pleasures life offers here. The spirit of our ancestors lives on, and I feel a deep sense of responsibility to carry forward our traditions while also embracing the opportunities that arise, especially with the exciting developments in our country, including the budding oil industry.
Though I work hard to support my family, I always cherish the moments spent with loved ones and the friendships I’ve formed over the years.
