Greetings! My name is Bonita Roberts, and I hail from the vibrant community of Portion Manawarin Borahara in the Pomeroon-Supenaam region of Guyana. Growing up surrounded by the rich flora of the Pomeroon River and the rhythms of our culture, I've developed a deep appreciation for the beauty and diversity of our land. From the lush landscapes to the bustling markets filled with the aromas of pepper pot, cook-up rice, and fresh fish, my childhood experiences are woven into the very fabric of who I am.
As a proud resident of Guyana, I enjoy sharing our local cuisine and traditions with friends and family. Though I often hear amusing comments about how I should never serve puri without curry, I embrace our culinary heritage wholeheartedly. My heart is always drawn back to special occasions where our community comes together, be it for a festival or just a casual gathering, bringing flavors like metemgee and dalpuri to our tables and laughter to our homes.
While many of us have moved abroad, I cherish the connections we maintain with Guyana and our ancestral roots.
