Hello! I’m Bonney Churman, a proud teacher hailing from the stunning Pomeroon-Supenaam region of Guyana. Living on Coast 168 Abraham Avenue, I draw immense inspiration from the vibrant culture that surrounds me. From the lush landscapes to the rich traditions of my homeland, I have a deep appreciation for the beauty of nature and the warmth of our diverse community. As many Guyanese say, "God thank you for your love," and I feel incredibly grateful to be part of such a loving and resilient culture.
As an educator, I strive to instill a sense of pride in our heritage among my students. Guyana is more than just a South American country; it's a unique blend of cultures—Indo-Guyanese, Afro-Guyanese, and Indigenous influences all contribute to our rich identity. I often share my love for traditional dishes like pepperpot and baked chicken with my students, bridging our culinary heritage into the classroom. Each meal at home is a celebration of our history and an opportunity to connect with family, much like the sentiments shared by many in the diaspora who long to visit home.
