Greetings! My name is Camlawattie Persaud, and I proudly call the picturesque village of Anna on the Essequibo Coast my home. Growing up in Guyana, I have always been surrounded by the rich flavors and vibrant traditions that define our culture. From the famous pepperpot at Christmas to the delectable roti and curry enjoyed during family gatherings, food has always been a central part of my life. I find joy in preparing meals that bring my loved ones together, often reminiscing about childhood days spent at Bamboo Landing and the warmth of our community.
As a housewife, my days are filled with nurturing my family and preserving the values passed down through generations. The bond we share as Guyanese, whether in our homeland or amongst the diaspora, is incredibly strong. I have experienced firsthand the importance of education, having grown up in a time when private schools shaped many of our destinies. I take pride in the accomplishments of my family members and friends, who have ventured abroad yet maintain a deep connection to our roots. We are living proof that Guyana is a land of opportunity and resilience.
Though I currently reside in Regina, I always carry the spirit of Guyana with me. Whether I am sharing stories about our beautiful landscapes or engaging in discussions about our cultural heritage, I am committed to fostering a sense of pride in our identity.
