About CHERYL FAYE PETERS-MOORE

About Cheryl Peters-Moore

Greetings from the vibrant Essequibo Coast! My name is Cheryl Peters-Moore, and I am a devoted teacher with a passion for nurturing the minds of our youth. Growing up surrounded by the rich culture of Guyana, from the lush landscapes to the spirited festivals, I've always embraced the beauty of our heritage. Whether it’s enjoying a delicious plate of pepperpot or sharing stories of our local folklore, I believe in the importance of preserving and celebrating our Guyanese identity, even as many of us navigate life far from home.

As a resident of Pomeroon-Supenaam, I find inspiration in our close-knit community and the warmth of our people. My classroom is not just a space for education; it's a reflection of the vibrant spirit of Guyana. We often discuss the importance of our traditions, like how my grandma makes her famous pork pepperpotβ€”a dish that evokes fond memories for many of us, especially those who may find it harder to get traditional ingredients in places like Canada. It’s heartening to hear stories from the diaspora, reminding us that no matter where we are, the love for our culture binds us together.

Through my work, I aim to instill pride in our students about their Guyanese roots, encouraging them to dream big while honoring their lineage. Together, we can build a future where our rich traditions thrive, whether it's through art, music, or simply sharing a good laugh over the way we pronounce our beloved local words. Join me as we celebrate what it means to be Guyanese, wherever we may find ourselves.
