Greetings! My name is Cicely Isaacs-Barton, a dedicated teacher rooted in the vibrant community of Pomona on the Essequibo Coast. Growing up amidst the lush landscapes and the rich cultural heritage of Guyana, I've been fortunate to experience the warmth and diversity that our nation embodies. Whether it’s sharing a plate of savory cook-up rice or exploring the serene Pomeroon River, my passion for education is deeply intertwined with the traditions and stories that make our country unique.
As an educator, I strive to inspire my students not only academically but also culturally, emphasizing the importance of our Guyanese identity. From the colorful festivals of Mashramani to the heartwarming gatherings during Phagwah, I believe it's essential to celebrate our roots. Through my teaching, I encourage my students to take pride in our heritage, understanding that even though many of us are part of the diaspora, we carry Guyana's spirit wherever we go.
