Hello! My name is Colwin Hollingswort, and I’m proud to call Pomeron in the Pomeroon-Supenaam region of Guyana my home. As a miner, I spend my days working the rich lands that have sustained our communities for generations. The vibrant spirit of my country is reflected in the hustle and bustle of our markets and the warmth of our people. Whether it’s sharing a plate of pepperpot during the holidays or enjoying a cold Red Bull Acai after a long day, these moments connect us to our roots and to each other.
Living in Guyana means constantly being surrounded by the beauty of our landscapes, from the flowing Essequibo River to the lush rainforests that are a treasure trove of biodiversity. I’ve been fortunate to meet many people who have visited or lived in Guyana, like my friends from the Peace Corps who fell in love with Essequibo and the warmth of our communities. Their stories remind me of the strong ties we have, not just with each other here, but also with our diaspora who carry a piece of Guyana wherever they go.
