Greetings from Mouth, Barima-Waini! I’m Samuel Crawford, a proud Guyanese miner who has spent countless hours navigating the vibrant waterways and lush landscapes of our beautiful country. My home is a stone’s throw away from the mighty Essequibo River, a place where my ancestors thrived and where I continue to foster a connection with nature. Growing up surrounded by the rich flavors of our local cuisine, I hold a deep appreciation for dishes like pepperpot and roti, which remind me of family gatherings and festive celebrations. I love to share a meal with friends after a long day in the mines, and there’s nothing quite like the bonds formed over a plate of curry and rice. My cultural roots run deep, as I constantly celebrate the influences of both our Indian and African heritage—truly, there is no Guyana without both!
