Hello! My name is David Marks, a proud labourer hailing from the lush Pomeroon region of Pomeroon-Supenaam, Guyana. Growing up near the tranquil Pom River, I have always been surrounded by the vibrant culture and rich natural beauty that defines our homeland. The rhythm of daily life here is infused with the sounds of the river and the laughter of friends and family, making it a truly special place to call home.
As a Guyanese, I cherish our diverse culinary traditions, from the rich flavor of pepperpot to the sweet delight of cassava pone. Our local markets are a treasure trove of fresh produce and spices, all of which tell the story of our heritage. Being part of the Caribbean community, I take pride in our history and contributions, from being one of the founding members of CARICOM to our shared cultural experiences that connect us with fellow Guyanese and Caribbean peoples around the world.
Though I may now work in a labor-intensive role, my heart remains anchored in Guyana. I often reminisce about the days spent exploring the lush landscapes and embracing the warmth of our tight-knit community. Whether it’s through a shared meal or a heartfelt conversation, I strive to keep the spirit of Guyana alive, both at home and within the diaspora. Pomeroon-Supenaam lies on the Atlantic coast northwest of Georgetown. Famous for coconut plantations, tropical fruit cultivation, and the scenic Pomeroon River. Anna Regina serves as the regional capital.
