Greetings! My name is Delano Courtman, and I proudly call Anna Regina, located in the beautiful Pomeroon-Supenaam region of Guyana, my home. Growing up in this vibrant area, I have been deeply influenced by the rich cultural heritage that our country offers, from the lush landscapes of the Pomeroon River to the warm smiles of my neighbors. We may sometimes face challenges, like the safety concerns that come and go, but the resilience and spirit of our community shine through.
Food is a significant part of my life, and I can't resist a good plate of roti! Whether it's enjoying a meal from Trincity Roti or sharing a sumptuous cook-up rice with family and friends, the flavors of Guyana never fail to remind me of our roots. I take pride in our local traditions and often reminisce about the gatherings filled with laughter, music, and delicious dishes that reflect our diverse heritage, from Indian to Indigenous influences.
As much as I cherish my life here, I also value the connections we have with the Guyanese diaspora around the world. It's heartwarming to hear stories from fellow Guyanese, whether in the U.S. or elsewhere, who share fond memories of home. Together, we navigate the challenges and celebrate our achievements, knowing that even though we may be miles apart, the bond we share is unbreakable.
