Hello and welcome! My name is Delesa Ramsden, and I am proud to be a teacher hailing from the beautiful Essequibo Coast, specifically Good Hope Sand, in the Pomeroon-Supenaam region of Guyana. Growing up surrounded by the lush landscapes and vibrant rivers, like the Pomeroon River and River Makoura, has instilled in me a deep appreciation for our rich culture and natural beauty. The rhythm of our communities, the warmth of our people, and the delicious flavors of our local dishes like metemgee and pepperpot are just a few of the treasures that make Guyana home.
In my teaching career, I strive to inspire my students to embrace their heritage and explore the world around them. I believe in the power of education to bridge gaps and create connections, especially within our Guyanese diaspora. It is heartening to see how our community thrives globally while still cherishing our roots—whether it's reminiscing about fishing on the River Calabash Island or sharing stories of our culinary delights with friends overseas.
