Greetings! My name is Delon Small, and I’m proud to call the beautiful shores of the Pomeroon-Supenaam region my home. As a labourer, I engage in work that connects me deeply with my community. I enjoy the simple pleasures of life, whether it’s sharing a plate of pepperpot and rice or relishing a sweet treat of guava cheese with my family and friends. Our culture is vibrant, and it shines through in every gathering, from the lively conversations over a game of dominoes to the rhythm of our local music that makes even the hardest days feel lighter.
Growing up along the coast, I’ve seen the struggles and triumphs of our people firsthand. While there are challenges—like the frustrations of power outages and the need for better infrastructure—there’s also a sense of unity that binds us together. In every corner of Guyana, from the bustling markets of Georgetown to the serene beauty of the Canje River, there’s a story that deserves to be told. My connection to the diaspora is strong, and I often hear tales of our homeland that remind me of why I cherish my roots.
