Hello! My name is Deodatt Gooray, and I proudly call the Essequibo Coast my home. Living along the lush, vibrant shores of the Pomeroon-Supenaam region, I draw inspiration from the rich natural beauty that surrounds me. From the expansive mangroves to the gentle lapping of the Pomeroon River, these sights remind me daily of the unique charm of Guyana—a country often overlooked yet bursting with life and potential.
As a labourer, I value hard work and the sense of community that binds us together. Life here is simple yet fulfilling, often centered around sharing meals with family and friends. There's nothing quite like the taste of freshly caught fish seasoned with local spices, or the delight of enjoying a hearty plate of pepperpot during holiday gatherings. Our culture is steeped in a love for food and togetherness, and I carry that warmth with me, even as I connect with fellow Guyanese in the diaspora who share my longing for home.
Through my experiences, I've come to appreciate the unique position Guyana holds in the Caribbean and South America. Many people may not know much about us, but I'm proud to represent our nation, whether in conversation or through shared stories of our beloved homeland.
