Hello! My name is Deomanram Nathram, and I am a proud fisherman from the serene waters of Regina Essequibo Coast, nestled along the 26 Sea Dam in Lima Anna, Pomeroon-Supenaam. Growing up in a country where the vibrant cultures of six different races—Amerindian, African, Chinese, Portuguese, East Indian, and European—intertwine, I have learned to appreciate the diversity that shapes our communities and the way we live. This cultural richness is not just a part of my identity, but a fundamental element of my daily life and work.
When I'm not out on the water, you can often find me sharing stories over a plate of doubles or enjoying a meal of fresh fish curry with family and friends. I have to say, the street food scene has seen better days—some places just don't hit the mark anymore! But there’s nothing quite like the taste of freshly caught fish grilled to perfection right by the shore, especially after a long day of fishing.
Living here, close to the breathtaking Kaieteur Falls and the lush landscapes that define our beautiful country, I feel a deep connection to not only our land but also the Guyanese diaspora around the world. Whether it’s through sharing tales of our homeland or connecting with fellow Guyanese abroad, I always carry a piece of Guyana in my heart.
