Greetings! My name is Devica Ramgobin, and I proudly call the vibrant Essequibo Coast home. Nestled on 118 Frampton Street in Pomeroon-Supenaam, I embrace the rich cultural heritage of Guyana, where the aroma of curry and pepperpot often wafts through the air, reminding us of our roots. As a housewife, I dedicate my days to nurturing my family and celebrating our traditions, from preparing festive meals during Phagwah to sharing stories of our ancestors who once roamed the banks of the mighty Essequibo River.
Living in a country that is as diverse as its landscapes, I understand the struggles and aspirations of our people. While we face challenges in education and business, I remain hopeful for a brighter future. With the new generation gaining access to the internet and free education, I believe we are on the cusp of change. I often reminisce about the warmth and unity we enjoyed in the early '90s, and I strive to instill those values in my children, reminding them of the importance of community and connection, especially with our diaspora family abroad who often support us from afar.
