Greetings! I am Devika Raghunandan, a teacher residing in the charming district of Pomeroon-Supenaam, specifically at Regina Essequibo Coast. My roots run deep in the vibrant culture of Guyana, where every day is a celebration of our diverse heritage. I often reminisce about the days spent sipping Tom-Boy soda while walking the lively streets of Broad Street, and the wonderful memories of my childhood at Ketley Primary School. It's these simple pleasures that inspire my passion for education and nurturing the minds of the youth in my community.
My teaching philosophy is influenced by the rich traditions of our people, from the flavors of pepperpot and cook-up rice to the stories shared around the fire during Diwali or Mashramani. I believe in creating an engaging environment that reflects our unique Guyanese identity, ensuring that each child sees the value of their heritage. Whether it’s a lesson on the rivers that shape our landscapes, like the Pomeroon or the cultural significance of Mainstay, I aim to instill a sense of pride in their roots.
