Hello! My name is Dhanraj Dookie, and I proudly hail from the picturesque River Western Hogg Island in the Pomeroon-Supenaam region of Guyana. As a farmer, I find great joy in cultivating the land that has nurtured generations of my family. My roots run deep, tracing back to the time when my forebearers arrived in Guyana from Lucknow, India, to work on the sugarcane plantations. This rich history informs my passion for agriculture and the vibrant culture that shapes our community.
Growing up surrounded by the lush greenery of Guyana, I cherish the simple pleasures of life—whether it’s enjoying a plate of aromatic roti and curry or gathering with friends at the local market. Each day is an opportunity to connect with my heritage, from the call of the cacique bird at dawn to the laughter shared during festivals like Diwali. My heart beats for the land and its people, and I celebrate our diverse cultures that come together like the colorful stalls of a bazaar.
