Hello! I’m Gordon France, a proud farmer from River Grant Teneze Farm in the beautiful Pomeroon-Supenaam region of Guyana. My roots run deep in this vibrant land, where the lush landscapes and rich waters nourish both our crops and our culture. Here, we cultivate everything from rice and cassava to the unique and flavorful spices that define our local cuisine. Growing up in the heart of Guyana, I've learned to appreciate the essence of our Creole heritage, where food and family come together to create lasting memories.
The Pomeroon River is not just a backdrop but a vital part of my life. It’s a place where generations of my family have fished and farmed, and where stories of our past are shared—much like my father’s tales of Bhojpuri-speaking relatives who couldn't speak English! We are a community that thrives on connection, whether it’s through the laughter shared at local gatherings or the heartfelt support of our diaspora, who send love from as far as India. Every time someone tries to speak our Creole and stumbles, it reminds me of the warmth that comes with embracing our unique identity.
As I continue to work the land, I remain committed to supporting not just my family but also the community around me. Whether it's through agricultural initiatives or celebrating our shared heritage, I believe in the strength of our people. We may face challenges, but the spirit of Guyana shines bright, and I am proud to play my part in this journey. From the famed Kaieteur Falls to the bustling markets in Georgetown, I carry the essence of my homeland with me, wherever I go.
Pomeroon-Supenaam lies on the Atlantic coast northwest of Georgetown. Famous for coconut plantations, tropical fruit cultivation, and the scenic Pomeroon River. Anna Regina serves as the regional capital.
