Hello! I’m Dhanraj Kissoon, a proud resident of the Essequibo Coast, nestled right along the vibrant 56 Public Road in Cotton, Pomeroon-Supenaam. Growing up in this beautiful region has instilled in me a deep appreciation for our rich culture, diverse landscapes, and the warmth of our community. Whether it's the breathtaking views at the Kaieteur Falls or the lively atmosphere at Bourdain Market, there’s always something that makes me proud to call Guyana my home.
As a Guyanese, I cherish the flavors of our local cuisine, from the famous pepperpot—though it’s not everyone’s favorite, as I've heard!—to the delightful fusion of culinary traditions represented in dishes from my family’s kitchen, inspired by my aunt Yvonne John, a trailblazer with her own cookbook. I invite you to visit my cousin, known as The Singing Chef, who brings our culinary heritage to life with his food business. Our food is not just about taste; it's about sharing stories and connecting with one another.
In addition to my love for food, I foster connections with the Guyanese diaspora, who often share their experiences and memories of home. It's heartwarming to hear comments about the beauty of our homeland and the memories tied to our landmarks, like St. George's Cathedral, especially at night. I aim to bridge the gap between those of us who still live here and those who have ventured abroad, reminding everyone that no matter where we are, the spirit of Guyana is always with us.
