Greetings! My name is Suraj Kisssoon, and I proudly hail from the vibrant Essequibo Coast, right along the 56 Public Road in Cotton, Pomeroon-Supenaam. As a skilled joiner, I take great pride in crafting beautiful and functional wooden structures that reflect the rich heritage of my homeland. Growing up in Guyana, I have always been surrounded by the incredible flavors of our local cuisine. One of my personal favorites is the iconic "doubles," a delicious street food that has roots in our Indian heritage. The story of how "doubles" became a staple in our culture is a testament to our communal spirit and adaptability. I often reminisce about the hustle and bustle of local markets, where vendors serve this delightful dish alongside an array of spicy chutneys, each bite connecting me to my ancestors and our shared history.
As a member of the Guyanese diaspora, I cherish the connections I have made beyond our borders, from friends and relatives in the Caribbean to those living in distant lands. Our shared experiences and stories create a bridge that keeps us connected to our roots.
