Hello! I’m Dianne Gonsalves, a proud educator rooted in the rich cultural mosaic of our beloved Guyana. Residing on the Essequibo Coast, specifically at 118 Richmond Housing in Pomeroon-Supenaam, I draw inspiration from our vibrant community and the resilience of our ancestors. The stories of survival and strength that echo through our history, from the struggles against slavery to our fight for rights, shape my passion for teaching and empowering the next generation.
Having grown up near the lush banks of the Pomeroon River, I cherish the beauty of our natural landscapes. Whether it’s the tranquil waters of Wakapau or the lush greenery surrounding Arapiako, these places remind me of the importance of our environment and heritage. Sharing traditional dishes like pepperpot and metemgee with family and friends is a part of my life that I hold dear, as it fosters connection and celebrates our diverse origins.
As a teacher, I strive to instill in my students not just academic knowledge, but also a deep respect for our history and culture. I believe that understanding who we are as Guyanese will empower us to build a future filled with hope and pride. Pomeroon-Supenaam lies on the Atlantic coast northwest of Georgetown. Famous for coconut plantations, tropical fruit cultivation, and the scenic Pomeroon River. Anna Regina serves as the regional capital.
