About EARL CARLOS CORNETTE

About Earl Cornette

Hello! My name is Earl Cornette, and I am proud to call Pomeroon-Supenaam my home. As a farmer, I am deeply connected to the land that has nourished my family for generations. Here, we cultivate a variety of crops, from rice to cash crops, and I take great pride in contributing to our rich agricultural heritage. There’s nothing quite like the taste of fresh, locally grown food, especially when it comes to dishes like pepperpot or a hearty bowl of cook-up rice during a family gathering.

In the heart of our community, Pom River Back Canal is more than just a waterway; it’s a gathering spot where stories are shared, and friendships are formed. Many of us reminisce about the vibrant days at the Bourda Market, where the colorful stalls and lively chatter bring the essence of Guyana alive. While I appreciate the connection I share with the Guyanese diaspora, I often wish more tourists would explore beyond the typical hotspots to discover the hidden gems of our culture, like the beautiful landscapes and the warm hospitality of our people.

As someone rooted in my community, I believe it’s important to share the truth of what life is like here in Guyana. Our experiences, our struggles, and our triumphs define us. Whether you’re a local or a visitor, I invite you to explore our traditions, from the sounds of the steelpan to the flavors of our cuisine, and to understand the resilience that characterizes our spirit. Together, we can celebrate the unique story of Guyana, one that goes beyond the surface and reveals the heart of our nation.
