Hello! I’m Jane Edwards, a proud farmer from the Upper Pomeroon River, specifically the Left Bank of Arapiako in the Pomeroon-Supenaam region. My roots run deep in this vibrant community where agriculture is not just a livelihood but a way of life. Growing up amidst the lush landscapes, I’ve always appreciated the rich soil that provides us with bountiful crops—from cassava to plantain, and of course, the beloved rice that nourishes families across Guyana.
As I navigate life in the U.S., I cherish the memories of sharing hearty meals with my family, often featuring dishes like cook-up rice and pepperpot, rich in flavor and tradition. I often reminisce about the sounds of the Lower Pom River, where I’d spend weekends fishing and relaxing by the water. Despite being miles away, I feel a strong connection to my homeland and the Guyanese diaspora.
