Hello! My name is Elijah Williams, and I proudly call the Creek Upper Pom River Kaibourie Canal Dredge in Pomeroon-Supenaam my home. As a labourer, I spend my days working hard in the lush landscapes of Guyana, where the vibrant culture and natural beauty inspire me every day. Growing up in this diverse region, I've been shaped by the rich heritage of our people, influenced by Indigenous traditions, East Indian customs, and African roots, all of which create a unique blend that defines our identity.
From enjoying a hearty plate of cook-up rice on special occasions to gathering with family for a lively homecoming, my life is deeply intertwined with the culinary delights and communal spirit of my community. Places like the stunning Waramuri Island and the serene Akawini have left a mark on my soul, reminding me of the beauty that surrounds us. Though the diaspora often stirs conversations about "how and why Guyana is part of the Caribbean," there’s no denying the rich culture we share, especially with our Caribbean neighbors.
