Growing up amidst the lush landscapes of Guyana, from the vibrant Pomeroon River to the cultural richness of Georgetown, I’ve always felt a deep connection to my roots. The flavors of our local cuisine, like pepperpot and cook-up rice, are a big part of my life, and I love sharing these culinary traditions with my students and community.
As an educator, I strive to instill a sense of pride in our students about their Guyanese heritage. I often incorporate local stories and folklore into my lessons, reminding them of the richness of our history, from the stunning Boradaro Island to the serene Arasaro River. I believe that understanding where we come from helps shape who we are and inspires us to contribute positively to our society. My aim is to empower my students not only academically but also as proud ambassadors of Guyanese culture.
In my spare time, you can find me enjoying the warmth of our community celebrations, whether it’s Diwali lights or Mashramani parades, or exploring the hidden gems of our beautiful country. I cherish the connections we share, both here in Guyana and with our diaspora around the world—after all, home is where the heart is, and my heart is always with the people of Guyana.
