Growing up in a place where the echoes of the Demerara River meet the warmth of the sun, I’ve been fortunate to experience our rich culture firsthand—from the delightful taste of pepperpot at family gatherings to the sweet indulgence of a freshly made dhalpuri that reminds me of our culinary roots. Just as many of my fellow Guyanese across the globe share fond memories of home, I find joy in the little things—like the aroma of curry wafting through the air on a Sunday afternoon.
As I navigate life in Guyana, I remain connected to our proud heritage, which is a melting pot of influences from Indigenous, African, Indian, and European cultures. Our history tells tales of resilience and unity, and it’s this spirit that I carry within me.
