Hello! My name is Gewantee Lall, and I proudly call Anna Regina in the beautiful Pomeroon-Supenaam region of Guyana my home. As a teacher, I am passionate about nurturing young minds and sharing the rich heritage of our nation. Growing up surrounded by the lush landscapes of the low coastal plain and the serene waters of the Pomeroon River, I have developed a deep appreciation for our natural beauty and diverse cultures. Whether it’s sharing a plate of pepperpot or enjoying some delicious cassava bread, I believe in celebrating our unique culinary traditions.
Having lived in Guyana my entire life, I cherish the vibrant community spirit and the connection we share with each other, both locally and within the diaspora. I often reflect on the warmth of our gatherings, the laughter echoing down the River Calabash Creek, and the stories passed down from generation to generation. As we navigate the complexities of our society, especially during election seasons, I remain hopeful for unity and understanding among our people.
Through my work as an educator, I strive to inspire my students to appreciate their roots and embrace their identity as Guyanese, no matter where they find themselves in the world. I believe that by fostering a sense of pride in our culture, we can empower future generations to carry our traditions forward.
