Greetings from Mission in the heart of Pomeroon-Supenaam! My name is Gordon Thomas, and I proudly embrace my roots as a Guyanese carpenter. Growing up surrounded by the lush landscapes and vibrant communities of Guyana, I have developed a deep appreciation for our rich culture, which is reflected in my craftsmanship. From the intricate woodwork of traditional homes to the warmth of our people, I strive to bring a piece of Guyana into every project I undertake.
Food is a significant part of our identity, and I often find myself reminiscing about the bold flavors of our cuisine. Although Caribbean food has been influenced by many cultures, it’s the spices and traditions of Indian food that truly capture the essence of our local palate, from the comforting aroma of curry to the sweet indulgence of black cake during festivities. As I share these culinary delights with friends and family, I feel a strong connection to our diaspora, particularly those who have ventured beyond our shores yet continue to celebrate our heritage.
