Greetings! My name is Gordon Duke, and I am a proud farmer hailing from the tranquil Pomeroon-Supenaam region of Guyana, specifically Pom. River Grant Kannai Lower. Guyana, with its lush landscapes and vibrant culture, has shaped my life and work in numerous ways. As I tend to my fields, I am constantly reminded of the rich traditions that connect us all – from the aroma of braised pork wafting through the air to the spirited conversations that arise over a shared meal at the local market.
Growing up in Guyana, I’ve had the privilege of experiencing its breathtaking natural beauty, from the majestic Kaieteur Falls to the bustling streets of Georgetown. The warmth of our people and the diversity of our food, including our beloved pepperpot and roti, have always made me feel at home. I take pride in my roots and enjoy sharing these experiences with the diaspora community, who often reminisce about the 'real thing' that is Guyanese cuisine and culture, a sentiment echoed by friends near and far.
Through my work, I aim to contribute to the agricultural richness of our homeland while fostering connections with fellow Guyanese, whether they are here or abroad.
