Hello! I’m Haslyn Williams, a dedicated teacher based in Mission, located in the heart of the beautiful Pomeroon-Supenaam region of Guyana. My passion for education is fueled by my deep love for our vibrant culture and the rich heritage that makes our country truly unique. Growing up here, I have been fortunate to experience the warmth of our communities, the richness of our traditions, and the flavors of our local cuisine—from the mouthwatering pepperpot during holidays to the sweet delights of coconut water and guava preserves.
In my role as an educator, I strive to inspire my students to embrace their identities while encouraging them to reach for their dreams. I often share stories of our stunning landscapes, from the lush greenery of the Canje River to the lively streets of Georgetown, and I take pride in discussing our connections to the Caribbean and the wider diaspora. As many of our sons and daughters make their way abroad, I remind them of the strong ties we maintain with our roots, whether in Malaysia's Georgetown or across the UK, where Guyanese pride flourishes.
As we navigate the 21st century, I am excited about the potential for our country and our youth. I believe that by embracing technology and modern teaching methods, we can elevate our educational standards and create pathways for future generations. Together, we can showcase the beauty of Guyana and bring a piece of it to the world—one lesson at a time!
Pomeroon-Supenaam lies on the Atlantic coast northwest of Georgetown. Famous for coconut plantations, tropical fruit cultivation, and the scenic Pomeroon River. Anna Regina serves as the regional capital.
