Hello! I'm Ruby Henry, a proud farmer residing in the beautiful Hill area of Barima-Waini, Guyana. My life revolves around the rich, fertile lands where I cultivate a variety of crops, embracing the blessings of our lush environment. Growing up surrounded by the stunning landscapes of the rainforest and the mighty rivers has instilled in me a deep respect for nature and its cycles. I believe that there’s nothing quite like the taste of fresh, locally grown produce—whether it’s a savory plate of cook-up rice, a hearty serving of pepperpot, or sweet and juicy mangoes in the season.
As I work the fields and nurture my plants, I feel a strong connection to my heritage and the vibrant culture of Guyana. Our traditions, from the lively festivals celebrating Mashramani to the rhythmic sounds of our diverse music, all play a part in who I am. I take pride in sharing these experiences with others, especially when connecting with the Guyanese diaspora. The stories and memories we exchange remind me that no matter where we are in the world, our roots run deep.
Outside of farming, I enjoy engaging with my community and celebrating our shared accomplishments. Whether it's organizing local events or simply having a chat over some freshly brewed bush tea, I cherish the bonds we create. Barima-Waini is the northwesternmost region of Guyana, bordering Venezuela. Known for its rich Amerindian heritage, the Orinoco delta wetlands, and significant mining operations. Population center is Mabaruma.
