Greetings! My name is Hoderick Gamell, and I proudly call Charity in the Pomeroon-Supenaam region my home. As a logger, I am deeply connected to the rich natural resources that Guyana has to offer, having spent years navigating the lush forests that blanket our beautiful land. The sweet aroma of freshly cut wood reminds me of the vibrant culture and heritage of our people, where every tree has a story and every log carries a piece of our history.
Growing up in a community that values strong family ties and deep-rooted traditions, I cherish the moments spent with loved ones enjoying dishes like pepperpot and metemgee, which brings us together in celebration. Whether it’s a Sunday lunch after church or a festive gathering, the warmth of our culture reflects in our food and the laughter shared around the dining table. My heart is also filled with pride for the breathtaking sights around us, from the majestic River Pomeroon to the serene beauty of Boradaro Island, where the spirit of Guyana thrives.
As we stand on the brink of a new era with the influx of oil revenue transforming our nation, I remain optimistic about the future for our youth. I believe that with hard work and dedication, we will see Guyana rise to new heights.
