Hello! I’m Imran Wilson, a proud sawman based in the heart of River Ykinipa on the Pomeroon-Supenaam mainland. Growing up surrounded by the lush greenery of our beautiful land, I have always held a deep appreciation for the rich natural resources that Guyana has to offer. My work involves not only the technical aspects of sawing but also connecting with the local community, sharing stories and experiences that keep our culture alive. Whether it’s a chat over a fresh pot of pepperpot or a stroll by the Pomeroon River, I genuinely enjoy the bonds we forge in our small yet vibrant community.
Having worked overseas, I’ve built connections with the diaspora, many of whom carry fond memories of our homeland—like the warmth of a Guyanese gathering or the sweet taste of a homemade cassava cake. I often reminisce about the bustling markets, the sound of laughter echoing through the streets, and the shared experiences that unite us, no matter where we are in the world. Those moments remind me of the importance of maintaining our traditions and sharing them with others, whether through food, music, or storytelling.
In my spare time, I love to explore the hidden gems of Guyana, from the majestic waterfalls to the serene beaches. I've also found joy in meeting people from different backgrounds, understanding the beauty of our shared humanity.
