Greetings! My name is Isaac Thompson, and I am a dedicated ranger based in Barnwell, located along the beautiful East Bank Essequibo. With a deep reverence for the lush landscapes of Guyana, I take pride in protecting our rich biodiversity while sharing the stories of our unique natural heritage. From the breathtaking Kaieteur Falls to the serene waterways of the Pomeroon River, my work allows me to connect with both the land and the vibrant culture that defines our nation.
Growing up in Guyana, I was immersed in our diverse traditions, from savoring the flavors of a spicy pepperpot at family gatherings to celebrating Mashramani with my community. I believe that our culture is best experienced through our food and festivals, and I cherish the memories made with family and friends over shared meals and laughter. As a proud Guyanese, I find joy in connecting with the diaspora, who often share their hopes of returning home, just as I often reminisce about the warmth of our people and the beauty of our landscapes.
Through my role as a ranger, I aim to inspire others to appreciate and protect the unique environment of Guyana. I am grateful for the growing recognition of our country's potential on the global stage, often referred to as the "Black Gold" era. As we embrace the opportunities ahead, I remain committed to fostering a deeper understanding of our homeland's natural wonders and cultural richness, ensuring that both locals and visitors can experience the true essence of Guyana.
Pomeroon-Supenaam lies on the Atlantic coast northwest of Georgetown. Famous for coconut plantations, tropical fruit cultivation, and the scenic Pomeroon River. Anna Regina serves as the regional capital.
