Hello! My name is Ismay John, and I am a proud farmer from the beautiful region of Mission, located in Pomeroon-Supenaam, Guyana. My roots run deep in this vibrant land, where the lush green fields meet the winding rivers, and the rich, fertile soil gives life to an abundance of crops. In my daily life, I cultivate a variety of local produce, including callaloo—what we lovingly refer to as bahgi—and balangae, which many know as eggplant. These ingredients are staples in our kitchens and often find their way into the traditional dishes that bring families together.
Living in Guyana has given me a unique appreciation for our natural beauty and cultural heritage. From the serene banks of the Pom River to the bustling markets where we share our fresh harvests, every aspect of life here is steeped in community spirit. I often reminisce about the sweet sounds of the river Kamadankoro and the warmth of the people who call this place home.
