Greetings! I’m Jagdeo Badray, a proud farmer residing in the lush Pomeroon region of Pomeroon-Supenaam, Guyana. Growing up surrounded by the vibrant greens of our tropical landscape, I developed a deep appreciation for agriculture and the land that nourishes us. Much like the hearty meals shared in our communities, such as curry and roti (definitely not for breakfast!), my work embodies the rich flavors and dedication of Guyanese culture. Our farming methods are influenced by generations before us, ensuring that we produce the best fruits and vegetables that grace our tables and markets.
Life in Pomeroon is not just about farming; it’s about community and connection. I enjoy exchanging stories with my neighbors about the best fishing spots along the river or where to find the sweetest pineapples. We often reminisce about our experiences abroad and the contrasting lifestyles we encounter, like how a mere £10 in London buys a loaf of bread when here it can purchase our freshest catch and local treats. This connection to both home and diaspora fuels my passion for promoting our culture and sharing the beauty of Guyana with the world.
