Hello! My name is Jaish Ellickram, and I proudly call the Essequibo Coast home, specifically Better Hope in the lovely Pomeroon-Supenaam region. As a dedicated labourer, I spend my days working hard to support my community and family. My roots are deeply embedded in the rich culture of Guyana, where warmth and camaraderie are just as important as hard work.
Growing up in this vibrant area, I’ve always been surrounded by the tantalizing aromas of traditional foods like pepper pot, which my family enjoys during special occasions. I can assure you, it’s a dish that can disappear in just two days in my house! The spirit of sharing and togetherness is something that resonates with me, as is our connection to beautiful landmarks like the Kaiteur Falls, a must-visit for anyone looking to appreciate the natural wonders of our homeland.
Even though I’m proud of my Guyanese heritage, I also embrace the connections we share with our diaspora community abroad. Whether it's reminiscing about home or sharing stories of our experiences, I find that our roots continue to bind us, no matter where we are in the world.
