Hello! My name is Janet Duport, and I am proud to call the Essequibo Coast my home. As a dedicated teacher, I strive to empower the next generation with knowledge and a love for learning. Growing up near the beautiful Pomeroon River, I've always been inspired by the lush landscapes and vibrant culture of Guyana. From sharing stories of my childhood adventures along the riverbanks to introducing my students to the rich history of our settlements, I aim to create a classroom environment that feels like home.
In my spare time, I enjoy exploring the local cuisine, especially the spicy pepperpot and hearty cook-up rice that bring my family together on special occasions. I often reminisce about gatherings with loved ones, where we indulge in delicious meals while enjoying the sounds of the Essequibo River. The connection to our roots is vital, and I make it a point to incorporate elements of our culture into my teachings, ensuring that my students appreciate the beauty of being Guyanese.
