Hello! I’m Janis Ward, a dedicated teacher residing in the heart of Bank Essequibo, specifically at Block 8 New, in the vibrant Pomeroon-Supenaam region. With a passion for education and community, I strive to inspire my students while embracing the rich cultural heritage of Guyana. From the lush landscapes of our rivers to the spirited energy of our local markets, every day offers a new opportunity to learn and grow together.
Growing up surrounded by the flavors of Guyana, I’ve developed a deep appreciation for our local cuisine—especially a well-made Doubles! While I cherish the memories of enjoying them at Trinciti, I often find myself craving the authentic street-side versions, where the channa is always generous. Beyond food, I take pride in our cultural connections, whether it’s celebrating the achievements of our artists like CCH Pounder or simply bonding over a shared love for our homeland with fellow Guyanese, no matter where we are in the world.
As I continue my journey in education, I remain committed to fostering a sense of community and pride among my students, encouraging them to embrace both their Guyanese roots and their identities as global citizens. I believe that by sharing our stories and traditions, we can create a brighter future for the next generation, rooted in love, respect, and understanding.
