Hello! My name is Jimmy Thornhill, and I'm proud to call the vibrant region of Pomeroon-Supenaam my home. As a bulldozer operator, I spend my days working hard to contribute to the development of our beautiful landscapes. Growing up surrounded by the lush greenery and rich rivers of Guyana, I've developed a deep appreciation for our natural resources and cultural heritage.
Food is a significant part of my life, and nothing brings people together quite like a steaming pot of pepperpot or a plate of flavorful cook-up rice. I often reminisce about family gatherings where we share not only meals but stories and laughter. Our local cuisine, infused with the spices and traditions from our diverse backgrounds, is something I cherish deeply. Whether it's enjoying a meal with my Indo-Guyanese friends or savoring the taste of fresh fish from the Pomeroon River, I believe our culinary offerings rival any cuisine in the world!
As much as I love my home, I also feel a strong connection to the Guyanese diaspora abroad. I often hear from friends and relatives who have settled in places like Australia or Canada, sharing their experiences and fond memories of our homeland. It inspires me to remain connected and engaged with our culture, whether it's through music, festivals, or simply sharing stories of our beautiful land—like the serene views of Ticanali Kabakaburi or the vibrant life in Newtown Kitty.
Pomeroon-Supenaam lies on the Atlantic coast northwest of Georgetown. Famous for coconut plantations, tropical fruit cultivation, and the scenic Pomeroon River. Anna Regina serves as the regional capital.
