Welcome! My name is John Fernandes, and I am honored to serve as the Minister of Religious Affairs in the vibrant community of Pomeroon, located in the Pomeroon-Supenaam region of beautiful Guyana. Growing up near the banks of the Pomeroon River, I have always been deeply connected to our rich culture, from our beloved pepperpot during the holidays to the lively sounds of our local festivals that bring us all together.
My work is driven by a passion for uniting our diverse communities and honoring our traditions. Whether it’s promoting the spiritual values that bind us or supporting initiatives that uplift our youth, I believe in the strength of collaboration and shared purpose. I often reminisce about the heartwarming gatherings at St. Chad's Mission, where stories and laughter fill the air, reminding me that our true strength lies in our connections, both here and across the diaspora.
