Greetings! I’m Barbara Fernandes, a proud Minister of Religious Affairs, rooted in the vibrant community of Pomeroon, Pomeroon-Supenaam. Growing up in the lush landscapes of Guyana, surrounded by the majestic rivers and rich biodiversity, I have developed a deep love for our culture and traditions. My heart beats to the rhythm of our local calypso and chutney, and I cherish the flavors of our beloved dishes like pepperpot and metemgee that remind me of home.
As a voice for my community, I am dedicated to fostering unity and understanding among the diverse religious groups in our beautiful land of many waters. I believe that our strength lies in our ability to embrace our differences while celebrating our shared Guyanese identity. Whether it’s connecting with the diaspora who carry our essence abroad or engaging with locals at vibrant cultural festivities, I strive to uplift our community and create spaces for dialogue and collaboration.

Pomeroon-Supenaam lies on the Atlantic coast northwest of Georgetown. Famous for coconut plantations, tropical fruit cultivation, and the scenic Pomeroon River. Anna Regina serves as the regional capital.
