Hello! My name is Jose Rookmin, and I proudly call Fleece Essequibo Coast School Dam Golden home. As a labourer, I’ve spent years working alongside my community to support our local economy, and I cherish every moment spent in the lush landscapes of Pomeroon-Supenaam. Whether it's a day of hard work or an evening spent sharing stories with friends over a plate of pepperpot and rice, I find joy in the simple pleasures that life here offers.
Growing up near the banks of the Essequibo, I’ve developed a deep appreciation for our natural beauty and the vibrant culture that surrounds us. I often reminisce about community gatherings, where we celebrate our heritage with music, traditional dances, and, of course, delicious food. The warmth of our people is unparalleled, and I am always eager to engage with fellow Guyanese, both at home and in the diaspora. Connecting with others from Lower Pom River, River Grant, and beyond reminds me of our shared roots and the importance of community.
In my free time, I enjoy exploring the rich history of our settlements, from River Borada to Portion Manawarin, and I welcome conversations about life in Guyana and its connections with our neighbors.
