Hello! I’m Joseph Rajcumar, a dedicated carpenter proudly hailing from the lush landscapes of East Bank Essequibo, specifically from the vibrant Pomeroon-Supenaam region. My roots run deep in this beautiful part of Guyana, where the serene Pomeroon River flows and the rhythms of village life shape our community. Growing up surrounded by the rich culture, I’ve come to appreciate the warmth of our people and the flavors of our cuisine, from the mouthwatering pepperpot to the sweet delights of coconut pie.
Living in the United States now, I carry with me the essence of my homeland. I often reminisce about the days spent in the settlements along the river, like at River Massarie and Coporoto Island, where simple joys are found in everyday moments. My work as a carpenter reflects the craftsmanship that is highly valued back home. I often take inspiration from the traditional designs and architecture of our indigenous communities, aiming to bring a piece of that heritage into my creations.
As part of the Guyanese diaspora, I strive to stay connected to my roots. Whether through community gatherings or sharing stories of the Pomeroon River's beauty, I cherish the bonds that tie us together, no matter where we are. I believe that maintaining our cultural identity is essential, and I’m proud to share the spirit of Guyana with everyone I meet.
