About KAMALWATTIE ALLY-RAGOOBEE

About Kamalwattie Ally-Ragoobee

Welcome! My name is Kamalwattie Ally-Ragoobee, and I’m proud to call the vibrant community of Pomeroon-Supenaam my home. As a dedicated teacher, I strive to inspire the next generation, sharing not just knowledge but the rich culture of our beloved Guyana. Growing up, my heart was filled with the flavors of our local delicacies—think pepperpot, metemgee, and the sweetness of fresh mangoes. I cherish the moments spent around the dinner table with my family, where stories of our ancestors from Essequibo and Matthews Ridge come alive, showing the deep connections we have to our roots.

Though I now reside on the Coast, my heart often wanders back to the lush landscapes of the Lower Pom River and the beautiful serenity of the Wakapau Island. I believe it's essential for us to celebrate our heritage, whether it's through the rhythmic beats of chutney music or the vibrant colors of our festivals. As many of us in the diaspora know, the journey of preserving our culture while adapting to new environments can be challenging, yet it is incredibly rewarding. I take pride in sharing my Guyanese identity with my students, encouraging them to explore their own backgrounds and the diverse world we live in.

To anyone reading this, whether you're from the land of many waters or part of the diaspora, I invite you to connect and share stories. Let’s celebrate our unique experiences and the beautiful tapestry of our culture that binds us together, no matter where we find ourselves. Guyana is more than a place; it's a feeling, a legacy that we carry with us wherever we go.
