Greetings! I’m Lalita Das, a passionate educator residing on the beautiful Essequibo Coast in the rich community of Richmond Housing, Pomeroon-Supenaam. My roots run deep in the heart of Guyana, a land renowned for its diverse culture, vibrant history, and stunning landscapes—from the majestic Kaieteur Falls to the tranquil banks of the Pomeroon River. Each day, I strive to inspire my students, instilling in them a love for learning that reflects our rich heritage and the values we hold dear as Guyanese.
Growing up in Guyana, I've always cherished our unique culinary delights, from the spicy pepperpot to the sweet, comforting flavors of coconut curry. These meals tell stories of our diverse communities, and I often incorporate local anecdotes and traditions into my lessons, bridging the gap between our past and present. The bonds I’ve formed with the diaspora remind me that no matter where we go—whether to Venezuela or beyond—we carry our culture and pride with us, as seen in the strong conversations about our identity and heritage.
