Greetings! My name is Rhonda Sieucharran, and I’m proud to call the beautiful Essequibo Coast home. Nestled between the lush greenery and vibrant waterways, my community is a place where the sounds of the Pomeroon River blend with the laughter of neighbors. As a teacher, I am dedicated to nurturing the minds of our youth, instilling the values of hard work and creativity that define our Guyanese heritage. Whether it's sharing stories of our rich history or introducing students to the delicious flavors of cook-up rice and pepperpot, I believe in fostering a love for our culture.
Living in a time of change, as Guyana steps into a bright future with the discovery of new oil fields, I remain hopeful for our country’s prosperity. Just as the new gas fields are set to transform our economy, I strive to empower my students to seize opportunities and build a better tomorrow. I often reflect on the vibrant diaspora that connects us all; like many, my family and friends have ventured beyond our borders, yet our roots remain deeply intertwined with the land. We celebrate each other’s successes and share a collective pride in being Guyanese, regardless of where we are in the world.
Outside of the classroom, you can find me exploring local markets, indulging in a plate of fresh fish and fried plantain, or enjoying the serene beauty of Hope Beach. I invite you to join me on this journey as we embrace our unique culture, celebrate our accomplishments, and look forward to the future with optimism and resilience.
Pomeroon-Supenaam lies on the Atlantic coast northwest of Georgetown. Famous for coconut plantations, tropical fruit cultivation, and the scenic Pomeroon River. Anna Regina serves as the regional capital.
