As Guyana stands on the brink of transformation with the oil boom positively impacting our economy, I feel a renewed sense of hope for our future. The progress we’re seeing is significant—our GDP has soared, and the government is actively distributing profits to improve the lives of ordinary citizens. While challenges remain, such as the need for better infrastructure in places like Stabroek Market, the resilience and creativity of Guyanese people inspire me daily. I believe that with each step forward, we can preserve our cultural heritage while embracing new opportunities.
My connection to the Guyanese diaspora is also important to me. Many of my friends and family have ventured abroad, sharing our culture while contributing to their new communities. I hope to encourage more people to explore the beauty of Guyana, whether it’s visiting our stunning waterfalls or enjoying the music and traditions that fill our streets.
